"Theatre of the Oppressed": A Rehearsal for Transformation Action Method for Encounter, Critical Reflection and Social Dialogue
Twelve (12) hours Dates: Four (4) consecutive Fridays, May 1; May 8; May 15, May 22, 2020 Time: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM Central Time (Dallas, USA) 3 hours per week face-to-face theoretical and experiential learning; optional individual assignments and group discussions during the rest of the week. Attending ALL four sessions is recommended for the complete experience as well as exploring and respecting the group dynamics.

Theatre of the Oppressed (TO), is a method, created by the Brazilian practitioner, Augusto Boal. It describes theatrical forms that Augusto Boal first elaborated in the 1960s, initially in Brazil and later in Europe and North America. Boal's techniques use theatre as means of promoting social and political change. The audience becomes active, they explore, show, analyze and transform the reality in which they are living. This 4-week training will demonstrate the major branches of Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) and how they relate to psychodrama: Image theatre, Forum theatre, Invisible theatre, Newspaper theatre, Legislative theatre, Analytical theatre, Rainbow of Desire, Breaking repression, Photo romance, Rituals and masks
