“Many survivors adjust to cancer and its associated treatments, but a subgroup struggles with emotional adjustment in the survivorship period” (Yi & Syrjala, 2017). The purpose of this workshop is to support women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer to discover how to improve their quality of life in dealing with both the physical and psychological side effects of living with and recovering from breast cancer through the use of action methods techniques. This 60-minute support group provides a safe space to share stories, be witnessed, and build emotional resilience. The format will focus on the sharing and listening of our personal stories and will incorporate gentle movement, role play, visual art, or music to help participants ponder apparent and symbolic meanings of feelings, which can be cathartic and support the development of change through insight and growth. Research shows that action method modalities such as expressive arts can have lasting positive effects on women dealing with breast cancer. Expressive arts are effective resources that enables oncological patients to cope with the disease and its consequences.
The aims of this group are:

·        Promote healing- create a tangible or mental image that provides a reference or record of sensations, perceptions, and feelings
·        Provide a safe sanctuary-Groups create a sense of connection and reduce feelings of isolation
·        Inspires empowerment! Facilitate the ability to accept and reconnect with our bodies
