Come learn how to help clients embody their sacred parts, allowing for more compassion, clarity and understanding, using psychodramatic techniques of externalising, role enactment and role reversal. Have the opportunity to befriend your own internal parts as a way of embodying the learning process.

Participants will improve their group skills and the ability to put parts into action. Come and discover what happens when we meet our sacred parts outside of ourselves, bringing them to life, and learn how to help clients to do the same.
Together we will put into action the dynamics of our internal world.

This workshop is best suited for those who either have some knowledge of and/or Internal Family Systems OR who have previous training in psychodrama. Is NOT an introduction to either. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Goal:
Participants will be able to develop skills to increase the effectiveness of both IFS and psychodrama with individuals and groups through combining tools to embody and enact our parts revealing new understanding of the relationships between parts and Self as well as how our parts interact with parts in others.

Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
1. Describe 2 ways to warm clients up to connect to self energy* through action
2. Identify 3 ways to build group cohesion through action methods
3. Implement 2 ways for group members to uncover commonalities to warm up to and identify protectors in themselves and in clients
4. Experience the psychodramatic technique of doubling to help clients access a deeper voice from internal parts as well as use doubling to distinguish self energy from parts
5. Learn and apply several tools to develop strong connections among group members that will enable deeper exploration of the internal landscape in individuals.
6. Experience a ‘surplus reality’ session with a client and therapist using empty chair with role reversal to explore a part to self relationship
7. Create and enact a parts map to explore our inner system and put it into action

Psychodrama and Sociometry:
Psychodrama, as conceived and developed by its creator, J. L. Moreno, M.D. (1889-1974), is a method which utilizes guided dramatic action to examine problems or issues raised in a group, or in individual counseling. Sociometry is a branch of the social sciences, based on the work of Moreno, which studies the formation and construction of groups and which features methods to describe and account for the interpersonal relations in groups.

IFS:
Internal Family Systems, or IFS®, was created by Richard Schwartz. IFS® is a transformative tool that conceives every human being as a system of parts, which includes protective and wounded inner parts. With compassion and curiosity at its core, IFS® is a
model which intends to bring compassion, healing and balance to every system.

What will IFS in action look like?
With the help of the group we can put our internal world into action. Participants will learn and practice the skills needed to be able to concretise their parts by literally seeing them, hearing them and interacting with them as they come to life through other group
members. Through this combination we can help our clients and ourselves develop curiosity and compassion as we not only witness but experience these aspects of ourselves. IFS is a predominantly internal process guided by the therapist which is not easily accessible to all people. Psychodrama provides techniques to concretise and enact all the parts of our inner world to better understand and heal the relationships between aspects of ourselves. It engages all the senses so we can have a more full experience of our parts. When internal parts are the only dominant voice, we can cause harm to ourselves and to others. Action methods facilitate the separation between parts and Self energy so we can develop a strong internal relationship that encourages clarity, compassion and the freedom to have a wider range of choices in our lives.
