Description
This experiential session invites participants to engage in structured interactions with someone they do not know and who differs from them in some meaningful way—someone they feel curious about. Through guided dyadic conversations, experiential activities, and reflective processing, participants will explore the natural hesitations and internal narratives that can arise when bridging differences of culture, identity, background, or worldview. The session emphasizes how curiosity, presence, and courageous listening can transform uncertainty into connection. Participants will learn practical strategies for building trust, empathy, and group cohesion in newly forming relationships, with direct application to counseling, education, leadership, and community-based work.
Learning Objectives
Identify personal and cultural hesitations that may inhibit connection with individuals from different backgrounds or identities.
Practice interpersonal techniques that support curiosity, connection, and relationship-building in diverse and hybrid/online group settings.
Strengthen skills for trust-building and mutual understanding, increasing relational confidence in professional and multicultural environments.
